Virtutone has brought the fax back to the future.  Virtutone has designed a unique technology that enables an end user to use their fax machine as they normally would every day.  Virtutone has taken the old fax technology and bridged the gap to the newer Internet Protocols, thus enabling the best user experience possible.  Now the customer can use the technology they need, while taking advantage of the cost savings of the newer VOIP technology.
   

The Fax Terminal Adapter (FTA) has a RJ45 Ethernet connection that connects to your internet and 1 or more RJ11 jacks which connect to any fax machine.  The user sends a fax normally, as the FTA emulates the fax machine on the other end of the line.  The FTA receives the fax and stores it in memory.  Once the fax has been received by the FTA, it converts it to a Digital format and sends it over the internet connection to the Virtutone servers.  Our servers then convert the fax back to its original format and sends it out over regular phone lines to the receiving fax machine.  Once the fax has been sent successfully, a confirmation is sent back to the FTA, which then sends a confirmation to the sending fax machine.  The same procedure happens in reverse when sending a fax to a remote FTA.

Setting up your FTA:
Once you receive your FTA, go the Virtutone website and log in (username and password provided with your unit).   In our secure website, you’ll follow simple steps to register your FTA by MAC address (labelled on the bottom of the unit) and select the fax and/or phone number you want for each port of your unit.  When complete, just plug your FTA into any internet connection and your new fax and phone numbers will be automatically uploaded to your new FTA. At any time, you can change your fax or phone number by logging into the website and changing the numbers.

SF7100
The SatFax 7100 is a 1 port unit that can be used for Voice (VoIP) or Fax (FoIP).

Getting Started
Your carton should contain:  the SatFax 7100 unit, an AC power supply and a stand that will enable you to place the SF7100 on its side. You will need a RJ-45 Ethernet cable to connect to your internet connection and a RJ-11 telephone cable to connect to your phone or fax machine.

On the back of the unit you’ll find:   an RJ-11 telephone port, an RJ-45 Ethernet plug-in for the internet connection and the power connection for your AC adapter. The black button next to the power connection is the reset button should you ever need to reset the unit. There is also a serial port on the back of the unit that’s for internal Virtutone use and is deactivated before shipping.

Activations
If you have not activated your unit with us previously you will need to call us at 1-866-942-5777 to activate your new phone/fax lines. You can also e-mail us at activations@virtutone.com

Please note that if you make any changes to your account (such as adding or cancelling lines) you will need to restart the unit to download the new settings.

Setting Up your 7100
To set up your 7100, simply follow the steps below,

  1. Plug your internet connection into the WAN port.
  2. Insert the AC power adaptor into PWR and plug it into the wall.
  3. Connect your device (either Telephone or Fax machine) using the TEL port.

Once the unit is powered up please allow a few minutes for the unit to download the settings from us. You will know the unit is ready to go one the light on port 1 is lit. Please note that the port light should light up regardless if the port is used.

Your SF7100 unit should be online and ready to receive faxes or calls.

SF7400
The SatFax 7400 is a 4 port unit that can be used for Voice (VoIP) or Fax (FoIP). Each port can be configured for either Fax or Voice, but not both on the same port.

Getting Started
Your carton will contain: The SatFax 7400 unit and power supply. You will need a RJ-45 Ethernet cable to connect to your internet connection and a RJ-11 telephone cable to connect to each of your phones or faxes.

On the back of the unit you will find all the plug-ins needed for your 7400. They is a RJ-11 telephone port for each line (Lines 1-4), a RJ-45 Ethernet plug-in for the internet connection and the power connection for your AC adapter. Lastly the black button next to the power connection is the reset button should you ever need to reset the unit.

Activations
